Mushroom Brown Is the Hair Color Trend of the Moment, and It’s Seriously Gorgeous

You may be tempted to get brighter highlights now that spring is around the corner, but we're here to talk you out of that plan. See, mushroom brown hair color is all over Pinterest right now, and it's a cooler way to transition to warmer temps. This multi-dimensional shade gives off the same earthy-neutral brown as a Portobello mushroom, hence the name. To achieve this look you have to start with an ashy brown base and add dimension with beige blonde lowlights. Since this color is a neutral, somewhat middle of the road brown, it picks up added color quite nicely.

Mushroom brown is super customizable. You can add ashy blonde for a more monochromatic finish or bits of a buttery shade if you can’t quite let go of your summer color.
